I'm posting this because I wanted to be the FIRST person to ever post on this Forum topic!

I do own a 1990 Sportsman, with a Volvo 290A outdrive and the 350 chevy (570 Penta).

I have some GOOD knowledge of this setup, although not an expert. I have dis-assembled most of my boat to fix even the most tedious things....so I might be able anyone who needs it.

I would love to chat with anyone who owns or owned this model boat about a few minor quirks, and how it handles in different seas.

There are a bunch of Sportsmans in the Central FL area, see then all the time, mostly 248s, and mostly with O/B power. A few I'Os here and there...

needs side paint.... but overall the boat was in incredible condition for it's year. Honestly, its the only reason I considered an older boat like this.

Definitely need bottom paint too..... what color is that blue? and who makes it?

The spotlight location looks like a good snag point, may want to move that aft to the deck. She' a good looker! The blue? Definitely not the original, the blue on Sportsman of that era was more a navy.

If you're looking for graphics, you know, decals and striping, I'd contact 4 Winns CS, they have a lot of the older WC graphics. Also Marine Connection Liquidators in Ft. Pierce, and Marine Surplus in Bradenton...

Yeah it was painted.... I need to find some paint....

I have been up to marine connection....nice place... SO many parts...its almost silly.

Spotlight needs a rebuild. it "sorta works" but has intermittent problems. I think the last guy added it, used, and it probably was a handymans special. i am shocked at how expensive they are....this model gets 700 bucks!

One of the first things I noticed (yeah, I notice shit like this!) was the hinges on the fwd end of the engine box. They still use those today, 23 years later! I even have one in one of my parts boxes! Brand new, Gemlux!

And yes, the chrome over brass spots are pretty dear to the manufacturers heart...$$$!
