Coastal 290

A few questions for fellow 290 owners...

1. I am not able to pump / drain the fish boxes below an inch or two of water even when under way and with the pump on. Any ideas?

2. I max out at about 1.3 MPG. I am running twin Yam 250's and at about 30 MPH. Is this what others are experiencing?

3. I am getting corrosion on my aluminum hardtop pipes and aluminum window frames. Going to try woodywax this weekend. Any other methods for controlling corrosion?

4. Getting bad oxidation on the clear vinyl windows on the hardtop canvas covers. Covers are 2008/9 but front needs replacement already. Any proven methods for controlling the problem on these Taylor Made windows?

Can't help with 1 & 2 but I use aluma-gard on my hard top pipes and they come out great. Woody wax is also a great product.
As for the windows, at the begining of each season I do the Novus 3 step system and it works really well. I also use Plexus during the season to keep them up.

Keep one of the plugs in and try draining one box at a time. I drain them at the dock and use a hose to force the last bit of water to the drain. In the end, I dry them with a towel. A better design would have been to place the drains at the bottom of the box.

For # 2 with the right conditions and trim, i can get to 1.5 and even 1.6. 3300 rpm and 29/30 mph. If I'm lazy about the trim and run 3700 rpm 30-33 mph, I'm at 1.3. With the 2012 F250's

Wow. On flat water I run 4000 RPM's to get 30 MPH...after playing with the trim.

Maybe because they were brand new last season. Hope it lasts

What props are everyone using when they state their speed/rpm/mpg a?

That's an interesting point. I believe it's the yamaha reliance prop. I have to get down to the yard to get the size, pitch and other specs. Will post

I am running the Yamaha saltwater series II prop
15 1/4" 19 inch pitch

Mines an 08 coastal with f250s. I am running 19 pitch quicksilvers. These are similar to the sws ii yamaha props joe is running. When I bought the boat it came overpropped with 21 pitch swsii props. The 19s put my wide open throttle trimmed up to about 5700 rpms.

Curious if anyone is running far different props. There is a thread on tht with a guy who had 17s but ended up going to 19s.

I considered four blades but my engines are on the highest hole and I was told the rev 4s like the engines mounted real high.
